The 2006 West Face is 64% Cab and 36% Syrah. It's a little unusual combination, especially in these proportions, but it works out okay. The syrah adds a little more tannins that I'd like in it, but I'm guessing time will take care to mellow it out a little. Good Read more
This is a really good Bordeaux blend by one of my favorite wineries, Ferrari-Carano. But unlike my favorite Tresor, the 2003, this 2008 is younger and not as smooth as the 2003. However, let's be fair, it's a great wine, with some ripe berries in it and a great aroma.
Third Zin of the night, as part of the blind taste last Saturday. This is a bold wine. Big, high alcohol. It has some fruit aroma, but is not very fruity. It produces a slight tingly sensation on the palate at first that goes away with more sips. Good overall.
